Company's Here!

Summer in North Idaho is in full swing and for those who are fortunate to live here, we know how friends and family love to visit us when the sun is shining and there's fun to be had. So share your list of must-see and must-do places to take out-of-town guests. It will be fun to compare lists and maybe even discover somewhere new to go ourselves!

In summer, I love to take visitors for lunch at the Beachhouse on the Deck. Or to the Floating Green restaurant. I take golfers on a tour around local golf courses, with lunch at The Porch. Skiers I take to Kellogg to ride the gondola up to Silver Mt. Quilters I take to quilt shops, lunch at the Fort Ground Grill or Tomato Street..you see we eat a lot! Dinner at Mallard's or Moon Time.

We always seem to make a trip with guests to the Silver Valley with a stop at Cataldo Mission and lunch at the Snake Pit (Enaville Resort). If it's summer we take a cruise on one of the Coeur d'Alene Cruise boats or the River Queen at Templin's to ooh and aah over the mansions on the river.

We had to wait almost 15 years in order to move here. We succeeded 11 years ago in becoming permanent residents. I could rave about North Idaho for pages, and after spending 30 plus years traveling the world, we picked Post Falls. This is a place that has wonderful four seasons, none of which are extreme. There is ALWAYS something to do here in the great outdoors, AND it is available at all price points. For a community our size, we have art and culture events throughout the year that can only be found in large metropolitan areas or highly specialized and narrowly focused artistic communities. We have a great balance. In the last 10 years, we have attracted a variety of residences and businesses that add to all aspects of an expanding economy that provides opportunities for entrepreneurs and options for consumers. And, oh by the way, did I mention that you can drink our water, right out of the Aquifer, without chemical additives! This is paradise.

We take visitors with kids to the playground at the park in Cda. That big wooden structure is a perfect "playpen" and we gals can sit in the shade and catch up on old times. It's easy to enjoy the lake from there and close to lots of good food. Gayle

Most of our company used to live here at one time or another. Our usual is to tour the "old places" so they can see the dramatic change. It's sometimes a pleasure (like the great little park on 7th st. or the way Tubbs Hill is still the same or that the park in Post Falls has a walkable beach and great parking) but usually we end up at Ironhorse remembering spaghetti night at Arrow Point and broasted chicken and beer at Gibbs Tavern. And that we did actually rent an apartment with three bedrooms and 2 baths for $500. ;)

We love to take visitors up the CDA river (near Prichard). Theres' nothing like floating down a peacefull river in a innertube or on a small raft. If your gonna drive to Pricahrd youmight as well go on up to Murray and visit the museum. Our favortie place to eat is the Spragpole Inn. We always run into friends and the food is great. Huckleberry picking is one of our favorite things to do with friends & family. There are beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and campgrounds. We usually try to make a weekend of it. If we stay in town, we never miss an opportunity to take folks downtown CDA or visit the Falls Park in Post Falls. We are truely blessed to live in such a wonderfull place.
